Trump Unveils F-47, the New 6th-Generation Fighter Jet

Washington — On Friday, President Trump declared that the U.S. Air Force is progressing with the development of a sixth-generation fighter jet, designated as the F-47, with Boeing receiving the contract to produce the new aircraft.

“At my command, the United States Air Force is advancing with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet,” the president stated during an announcement in the Oval Office alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. “Nothing else in the world even comes close to it. And it will be named the F-47.”

Boeing and Lockheed Martin had been vying to construct the Next Generation Air Dominance fighter, as the U.S. aims to maintain its edge over China in air defense technology.

The president described the F-47 as “the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever constructed,” highlighting its “virtually unseeable” nature, “unprecedented power,” and exceptional maneuverability. Mr. Trump noted that “an experimental version of the aircraft has been flying in secret for nearly five years, and we are confident that it significantly surpasses the capabilities of any other nation.”

“America’s adversaries will never see it coming; hopefully, we won’t need to use it for that purpose, but it’s essential to have,” Mr. Trump remarked. “And if that ever occurs, they won’t know what hit them.”

The president indicated that a new fleet of F-47s will be established during his term. He informed reporters that he cannot disclose the cost of the jets “as it would reveal some of the technology.”

Hegseth asserted that the F-47 “delivers a very direct, clear message to our allies, conveying that we’re not backing down, and to our enemies, indicating that we will project power around the globe without interruption for generations ahead.”

“We will ensure that the USA continues to dominate the skies,” Mr. Trump added.
