Watch: Lara Trump’s complete 2024 RNC speech

Lara Trump is making her way back to her previous workplace.
The former co-chair of the Republican National Committee has returned to Fox News Channel with “My View with Lara Trump,” a new opinion show airing on Saturday nights at 9 p.m. ET, which premiered on February 22.
By doing so, she has declined a cabinet role in her father-in-law, President Donald Trump’s second White House term, as well as another opportunity to serve in the U.S. Senate, making history as the first family member of a sitting president to host a television program. Lara is married to President Trump’s middle son, Eric, and they have two children together: Luke and Carolina.
“The show aims to add a new level of transparency to discussions that I don’t think we’ve seen before,” Trump told USA TODAY. “When you look at Donald Trump, it’s hard to find a more transparent candidate and administration than what we currently have.”
Known for her adventurous approach, such as her viral appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Trump expresses her desire to invite Democrats onto her show — including the president himself.
Following the announcement of her hiring at Fox News, criticism emerged. The Daily Beast claimed she attempted and failed to present her father-in-law as “pro-feminist,” after showcasing prominent female Trump administration figures like Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, and Karoline Leavitt. The New Yorker described her as “The New Trump-Family Megaphone,” a characterization she disputes.
“Of course people will criticize anything a Trump does,” she remarks. “Obviously, there will always be critics,” she says in reference to the “megaphone” label, adding that it’s “not the intent of the show.”
She has a structured plan for “My View,” which has already turned into a ratings success. As left-leaning news networks like MSNBC and UJ undergo talent reshuffles during President Trump’s second term, cutting ties with critics or allocating them lesser airtime, “My View” attracted the highest viewership of any cable show during its opening weekend, as reported by Nielsen ratings.
The show garnered more viewers than ESPN’s college basketball, achieving 2.4 million viewers just before March Madness.
Lara Trump: President Donald Trump is my ‘greatest supporter’
Trump conveyed to USA TODAY that the president found her debut episode “incredible,” dubbing her his “biggest supporter.”
“He’s called me twice since the debut to express how amazing he thought I was, and how much he enjoyed the show. Unfortunately, I missed both calls,” Trump shares, noting her phone was dead and she was on a plane during those times.
“I’m very thankful, and I’m elated (President Trump) enjoyed it,” she states. “He mentioned that the only way to attract a significant audience is if I had him as a guest, so I think that — while I don’t want to suggest I’ve proven him wrong, when he does come on, I expect the viewer numbers will soar.”
When is Lara Trump planning to bring the president on ‘My View’?
For those curious about when her father-in-law will make his first appearance on “My View,” Trump mentions her desire to have him on the show following his first 100 days in office.
“I wanted to establish my role before inviting him on. So, we don’t have any official plans yet,” she explains.
She emphasizes her intention to establish her own niche at Fox News and commended President Trump’s administration during her conversation with USA TODAY.
Trump launched her Fox show to “provide an additional layer of transparency and more knowledge, not less, to the audience out there.”
“You know where I stand, who I voted for, and I definitely want to see my father-in-law succeed as president, but I believe anyone who regularly watches the show will quickly understand that I’m merely attempting to offer further insights,” she explains.
Who will appear on Lara Trump’s new show?
Her ideal guests? Her family.
“I’d actually love to conduct an interview with my entire family, to allow people to see our interactions because I think it’s pretty unique,” she remarks. “Also, I think people thoroughly enjoy writing about various dynamics. We all have a great rapport. The last eight years have drawn us closer together.”
She also intends to extend invitations to Democrats, mentioning moderate Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman and late-night host Bill Maher as potential participants.
As for the playful title, it’s not intended as a jab at “The View,” the ABC daytime show often critical of the president.
“Some interpret it as a dig at ‘The View,’ but primarily, it’s about capturing what the show is fundamentally about — my perspective and viewpoint,” she clarifies, stating they chose the most straightforward name possible.
Trump indicated that she “would have likely accepted” a co-hosting position on “The View,” yet she replied “not to my knowledge” when asked if producers had ever approached her.
Lara Trump bypassed opportunity to become U.S. Senator (again)
To host “My View,” Trump removed her name from consideration to replace Marco Rubio, President Trump’s choice for Secretary of State, in the U.S. Senate representing Florida, where she currently resides. She was previously considered as a Senate candidate in North Carolina in 2022.
For her, motherhood takes precedence, stating, “As the mother of two young kids, aged 5 and 7, I’m needed. They appreciate my presence, and that phase doesn’t last forever. Eventually, there will come a time when they’ll say, ‘go away, mom. We don’t require your company.’
She resides in Florida and tapes the show in different locations nationwide.
“With that in perspective, this appealing opportunity at Fox arose, and I thought, ‘it feels like this direction is what is meant for me. It’s not common to see many mothers of school-aged kids in the Senate.’ There are only four such moms in the Senate.
She asserts, “It’s not that they lack determination. It’s exceedingly tough to be away from your children unless you relocate them entirely to D.C. for the duration required to fulfill a U.S. Senate role.”
At this point, the “No Days Off” singer indicates the Senate can wait. Voters can find her anchoring on the desk every Saturday, sharing her viewpoint.
“I actually hope that our show brings in new viewers to Fox because I believe it provides something distinct that isn’t solely driven by the frantic 24-hour news cycle we’re all accustomed to,” Trump adds.
“Sometimes, it’s challenging to pause and truly appreciate those making significant changes right now, and that’s genuinely my aim: to highlight them.”
‘My View’ third episode will host Vivek Ramaswamy and Sean Duffy
“My View” is broadcast on Saturday evenings on Fox. The March 8 episode will feature Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, and U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
