Klay Thompson And Golden State Warriors Defeat The Mavericks In Game 5

Klay Thompson

The Golden State Warriors moved to their 6th NBA Finals in the last 8 seasons by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5, 120-110, in the Western Conference finals on Thurs night. Klay Thompson shimmied his way to 32 points. As the Warriors stormed out to a 17-point lead in the first half and coasted the rest of the way, Klay Thompson scored 19 points at halftime, including a 3-pointer that he accentuated with teammate Stephen Curry’s characteristic shake.

Golden State Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Draymond Green had 17 points, and Curry had 15 points and nine assists.

Klay Thompson Was Crowned The MVP

The Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic overcame a poor start to score 28 points. Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 26 points.

Meanwhile, Curry praised Klay Thompson’s effort after being voted the first Magic Johnson Western Conference Final MVP. He stated, “We watched what he went through these last two years, every single day rehabilitating, grinding, placing his body back in position to be back out here, for this moment.”

The Golden State Warriors are back to a familiar scene after missing the playoffs in back-to-back injury-plagued seasons in 2020 and 2021. Since the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls’ two three-peats in 1991-93 and 1996-98, they are the first team to make six final appearances in eight years. In Game 1 of the NBA Finals on June 2, the Golden State Warriors will host the victor of the Eastern Conference finals in Boston and Miami. The Celtics are up 3-2 in the series heading into Game 6 on Friday night at TD Garden.

After the Warriors recaptured their berth in the NBA finals, the hashtag ‘Game 5 Klay Thompson’ trended on Twitter.
